Beniam served as the first research coordinator for the CHILL Lab from the opening of the lab in Fall 2024 until Summer 2025. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arba Minch University and a Master of Science in Mental Health from Jimma University in Ethiopia. In addition, he is an Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute, University of California San Francisco, a program focused on enhancing care for people with dementia globally.
Madison joined the lab as a full-time research technician to assist with research and community engagement activities for Summer 2025. She is currently completing a master's degree in psychology at James Madison University and plans to pursue doctoral studies in clinical neuropsychology.
Stephanie earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health with Scholars and Research Distinction and a minor in Women, Gender, and Public Policy. Her research interest is further exploring how social and political determinants of health impact prevention and access to care in traditionally underserved populations. She is a former White House intern, Lead Undergraduate Coordinator for the Columbus Free Clinic, and Founder of Policy Explained, and is currently a legislative aide for Ohio District 1 Representative Dontavious Jarrells.
Lauren is currently pursuing a dual Master's Degree in Social Work and Public Health at The Ohio State University. She completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology also at Ohio State, with minors in History and Aging. Lauren joined the lab at the very beginning in Fall 2024; her research interests include how social determinants of health and physical activity affect the progression of neurogenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease. In her spare time, she works a part-time job on campus and enjoys reading, taking walks, and spending time with family.
Kaytlin joined the lab in Fall 2024 and is passionate about addressing health disparities in low-income communities and working toward improving access to quality healthcare. Her goal is to attend medical school and become a family medicine physician, where she can provide comprehensive and compassionate care to underserved populations.
Durre is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the Ohio State University who is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, with minors in Public Health Epidemiology and Neuroscience. She is a graduate of the Second-year Transformational Experience Program (STEP) at Ohio State and plans to pursue a career in public health/epidemiology.
